Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease, characterised by progressive cartilage breakdown, subchondral bone sclerosis and aberrant bone outgrowths (osteophytes). Traumatic joint lesions increase the risk of OA. Advances in the regenerative treatment of early cartilage lesions could help to prevent OA.
