Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy for Ischemic Heart Disease: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have emerged as breakthrough treatments for myocardial infarction. However, the efficacy of MSC remains unclear. The aim of the study was to evaluate treatment effect of MSC in terms of mechanical, regenerative, and clinical outcomes for patients with myocardial infarction (MI) using meta-analysis.

Potential of Stem Cell-Based Therapy for Ischemic Stroke

The number of stroke-related deaths is increasing and stroke remains one of the major causes of deaths and disability worldwide. Between 1990 and 2010, the global incidence rate of stroke seemed to be stable, while other parameters such as the incidence of first stroke, prevalence of stroke, disability-adjusted life-years lost due to stroke, and the number of stroke-related deaths increased by 68, 84, 12, and 26%, respectively.
